General Notes:

Barb came out to Santa Monica for a vacation and I promptly put her to work helping me with this project. Jim McNerland of Evergreen Preschool made arrangements to bring some of the school's children to the beach for some hands-on sculpture work. He'd prepared them by practicing in their sand box.

Design Notes:

Sculpting at the Santa Monica Pier is chancy due to sand. Sometimes it's good, other times it's dreadful. Today it was OK. The Bigfoot Tamper packed it well but I still carved conservatively, in a design reminscent of other short-form sculptures. Engineering constrains design. Still, I liked it.
