Saturdays were getting crowded. For this sculpture I took Friday off from work and had a lot better time. Start time was 0800 and the time passed in a relaxed way. Lifeguards came by to chat, as did some LAPD officers looking for something to do.
As I was filling the form a man rode past on a bike whose wheels were made from truck inner tubes. He simply floated along on this giant bike, leaving hardly a trace even on the dry sand. The sculpture started with an idea for a ball shape inside a concave panel. With that complete, there was a lot of sand left. I tried this and that, hoping it would all fit together. It could have used more time but I was out of energy. I cleaned it up and called it good.
