Sand Cache with Caution Tape
Here's one use for CAUTION tape. If the high tide is in the morning, I have to come to the beach the afternoon before and carry the sand from the low tide area to above the coming high tide. It's not so much that the sand from the low-tide area is wet, but that it is finer. I don't want anyone stumbling over the cache overnight. I also want the police and other maintenance folks to know that the sand is here for a purpose. So, I make the cache as neat as possible, and then wrap it with the yellow tape. Some things to notice here: In the background you can see me working on a free-pile sculpture. The sand cart is nearby, and the big rough pile of sand is the overburden I removed to get at the good sand. Just above the cache you can see cart tracks made by those big soft wheels as I pull the sand cart over the dry sand. Photograph by George Ollen | |||||
