Water. There's either too much or too little. Everyone argues about it, wanting it here but not there. Natural processes ignore the arguments and rain falls where it will. Here, writ small, is the signature of mighty processes. Tectonic pressure builds mountains in fits and dramatic starts. Water, more patient, gradually tears the mountains apart and hauls the detritus into the valleys, incidentally weaving its evanescent signature. Beauty is where you find it. This is the roadside ditch. |
