Early stages of John Gowdy's sculpture. This is his second try at the crown. The face had slid off entirely by the following morning and had to be rebuilt.

John Gowdy constructed a "sand domino" mold to get the dominoes the same size. He later abandoned this idea and did all dominoes except one inf the 'fallen down' position. I think it's neat how he managed to do the 'dominoes half-fallen down' look on the right. Not easy.
